The leaders of the red-shirt United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) will meet to reportedly choose a new chair as they are dissatisfied with the group’s current chairwoman Thida Thavornseth and other members.

Interim UDD spokesman Worawut Wichaidit said the red-shirt people are not involved with the government’s plan to hold the “Love Thailand, Move Thailand Forward” event on February 10 that invite all political groups and agencies as well as Privy Council President Gen Prem Tinsulanonda, who accepted to attend the event.

“The event belongs to the government and is not related to the red-shirt people. We know well who was behind the seizure of power. The red-shirt people may support the government but we will not get involved with the country’s administration. But if the government’s activity appears to have violated the people’s rights and freedom, we will warn it,” he said.

He said the central UDD leaders will meet at Nakhon Nayok to discuss about the movement of the group and plan how it will fight.

According to a report, the UDD leaders have scheduled a meeting to elect a new UDD chair and settle their conflicts regarding the dissatisfaction toward Ms. Thida’s performance and other leaders who kept distance from the groups after they became ministers.
