Jatuporn unveils schedule of red-shirt campaign for charter amendment in February

On February 1, 2012, the red-shirt supporters led by Pheu Thai MPs of the Northern provinces will propose a draft of constitutional amendment to the parliament and on February 9, 2012, the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD)’s Thida Thavornseth will also submit one; meanwhile, Pheu Thai Party and the government will file a motion as well, said Pheu Thai Party’s list MP Jatuporn Prompan.
Besides, the UDD is going to hold the biggest event of summoning red-shirts on February 25, 2012 at Bonanza Khao Yai, Nakhon Ratchasima province; the event is postponed from February 19. Before the event, all UDD key persons will have a meeting to determine strategies and framework of charter amendment in which Pheu Thai Party proposes to amend only the Article 291 for establishment of the Constitution Drafting Assembly.
“Red-shirt leaders and the government’s figures will go out to meet people throughout the country every Saturday and Sunday in order to make them understand the issue of charter amendment. Moreover, the government will set up the committee responsible for relieving casualties of the past political rallies,” said Mr. Jatuporn.
