Deputy leader of the Opposition Puea Thai party Plodprasop Suraswadi, Bangkok Governor MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra and an influential figure whose name starts with the English initial ‘J are named the three key parties behind the peace plan.
Democrat deputy leader Kraisak Choonhavan admitted that he really discussed with Mr Plodprasop, but he regarded the conversations with Mr Plodprasop as an exchange of opinions on the political matter concerning the bloody incident in the past May.
He said the peace plan talk started off when international ambassadors to Thailand and several organizations demanded the Puea Thai and the Democrat to talk to each other to find common ground to end the current political conflict.
On September 2, Mr Plodprasop made a statement in support of the five-point reconciliation plan during a meeting at a hotel.
“The discussions were joined by me, MR Sukhumbhand, and Democrat Party spokesperson Buranut Samutrak, who turned up occasionally, while the Puea Thai side consists of Mr Plodprasop, Jaturon Chaisaeng, and Pongthep Thepkanchana. Besides, foreign ambassadors also participate every time. We (Democrat) confirmed to propel the peace process by the law while Puea Thai preferred to put the peace plan in writing,” said Mr. Kraisak.
