Ministry of Commerce says that establish a SME center to help spur their growth

The Ministry of Commerce said that it was looking at setting up a center to help the Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SME) within the next 3-months.

Alongkorn Ponlaboot, Deputy Minister of Commerce, said that the government has a project to establish the center of SME’s trade, which will be the largest center of South-East Asia. The plan will be seen within three months.

The state will focus on supporting privates and entrepreneurs to join the project, including looking after tax and goods measures and the international cooperation to SME entrepreneurs. This center will not be too far from Suvarnabhumi Airport, Bangkok port and Laem Chabang Port for reaching facilities. He said the government is under the consideration to proceed the project.

He also expects that SMEs would grow by 50% by 2012, while this year would make trade value above 3.5 trillion Baht and it is possible to reach 4 trillion Baht.
